The exterior paint project began by stripping the airframe down to bare metal. The entire structure was checked for cracks or other structural issues before a primer coat was applied. The final coats of olive green drab paint were applied, as that was the paint scheme this aircraft was configured with while in Somalia.
The main gearbox and rotor head was removed, disassembled and every part examined and replaced as needed before reassembly. This meticulous project took our mechanics XX hours. Installation of the entire component took a full day, and testing and calibration is now underway.
